What does TML URL Redirect do?
It helps Shopify merchants create, review, import, export, and manage redirect rules for storefront URL cleanup and migration workflows.
Does it replace Shopify native URL redirects?
No. Shopify's native redirects use HTTP 301 responses for eligible broken source URLs. TML URL Redirect can sync eligible rules and handle supported live pages with its JavaScript app embed. A browser redirect is not a server-side 301.
Choose and test the right redirect methodWhy do I need the theme extension?
Supported live-page browser redirects need the app embed enabled on the published theme and JavaScript available in the visitor's browser. Recheck the embed after changing themes. Native HTTP redirects are a separate path.
Set up the app embedCan redirects go to external websites?
In TML URL Redirect, external destinations require the Pro plan and a destination domain you intentionally approve in the app. Open the destination separately and test the complete rule before using it for traffic.
Review Pro and its limitsCan I import redirects?
Yes. Use Download Sample CSV in the app for a TML import. Shopify's native importer uses different column headings. Back up existing rules, review validation results, and test a small batch before a large import.
Read the CSV import guideHow do I know a redirect is working?
Check both the destination and the initial HTTP response. A synced rule or a browser arrival alone does not prove a native 301. Record the exact source, destination, sync status, and test result if you need help.
